Research
Research is a process of discovery that may inform the organisation’s decision-making process and lead to enhanced organisational performance. Ultimately, the achievement of the organisation’s corporate goals is measured through research and evaluation.

Research is conducted on a needs basis. Some common criteria used to prioritise research include:

  • relevance to corporate goals
  • evidence of need (eg. injury incidence rates)
  • need in terms of identified gaps in available knowledge and/or recommendation of key stakeholders
  • opportunity to build upon successful efforts of previous work
  • ability to draw support in terms of likely adoption of successful strategies
  • show a likely favourable benefit-cost ratio.
