Plant Q20
Which items of plant need to have their design registered?

These are listed in the tables in Clause 107 of the OHS Regulation 2001. They include:

  • boilers and pressure vessels with a hazard level of A,B,C or D according to the AS 4343-1999
  • gas cylinders
  • tower cranes
  • gantry cranes with rated capacity load of more than 5 tonnes
  • bridge cranes with a rated capacity load of more than 10 tonnes
  • gantry and bridge cranes designed to handle molten metal or dangerous goods (within the meaning of the Australian Dangerous Goods Code)
  • mobile cranes with a rated capacity of more than 10 tonnes
  • boom-type elevating work platforms
  • lifts (including elevators and moving walkways)
  • building maintenance units
  • hoists with platform movement of more than 2.4 metres, designed to lift people
  • work boxes suspended from cranes
  • prefabricated scaffolding
  • mast climbing work platforms
  • vehicle hoists
  • amusement devises (other than coin operated) that are, or maybe, operated other than by manual power.

Note:  Clause 112 of the OHS Act 2000 provides for registration of plant design under equivalent law.
