Which items of plant need to be registered before erection or use ?

These are listed in the tables of the Regulation (see table to Clause 113 of the OHS Regulation 2001). They include:

  • boilers with a hazard level of A,B,C according to AS 4343 – 1999;
  •  pressure vessels with hazard level of A,B,C according to AS 4343-1999 D (except LP gas fuel vessels for automotive use covered in AS 3509-1996; serially produced pressure vessels covered AS 2971-1987; or pressure vessels that do not require periodic internal inspection as per AS 3788);
  • lifts (including escalators and moving walkways);
  • amusement devices (other than coin operated) that are or may be powered by other than manual power (see also Clause 114 – additional requirements for application to register amusement device);
  • tower cranes;
  • building maintenance units;
  • truck mounted concrete placing units and
  • mobile cranes with a safe working load of more than 10 tonnes.
