Spray Painting Q2
Does all spray painting have to be carried out in a booth?

No.

An employer can carry out spray painting other than in a booth if the employer proves that it is not reasonably practicable to carry out spray painting in a booth. (See Clause 178 of the OHS Regulation 2001).

The employer must therefore undertake a risk assessment. Employers must also follow the particular risk control measures as listed in Clause 178 of the Regulation if they are not carrying out spray painting in a spray booth.
