WorkCover approval is only required for first aid and occupational first aid courses in an occupational or workplace setting.

To meet the requirements of Clause 20 of the OHS Regulation 2001, first aid and occupational first aid courses must be approved by WorkCover NSW.

Applicants wishing to submit their course for WorkCover approval should first obtain a copy of the WorkCover NSW First Aid and Occupational First Aid Course Approval Manual. This Manual is available from the Licensing Team on 1800 855 969.

The approval procedure involves a request for approval, dispatch of course approval criteria and return to WorkCover of the submission with a fee of $950 (first aid) and $1,800 (occupational first aid) (GST exempt). WorkCover also approves a First Aid Pamphlet – the fee is $200.

Note:  The fees were revised as at 20.6.01.

If approved by the First Aid Courses Evaluation Committee, a WorkCover First Aid Course Approval Number is issued.

Amendments to courses and course training returns must be submitted to WorkCover as required.
