A practical safety guide developed jointly by WorkCover NSW and WorkSafe Victoria was released on 30 May 2007 at Mildura. The guide contains detailed information about hazards in the fruit, citrus and grape growing industries in the Murray Valley area and includes simple checklists designed to be copied and used in the workplace.
Whilst focusing on the crop sectors that predominate in the Murray Valley and Murrumbidgee Irrigation Areas, the new Guide is a valuable reference for growers of these crops in any region. It will also be of use to other cropping sectors as it provides guidance on managing safety risks for plant and work practices that are used in many other agriculture sectors.
