Safer Towns and Cities
New Community Safety Week for Bathurst and Orange
Safer towns and citiesSafer communities will be the focus of a NSW Government free demonstration program being held in Bathurst and Orange from 3 June to 10 June 2004.

The Safer Towns and Cities program is a major State Government initiative being undertaken in partnership with the Central West community to increase awareness and understanding of workplace and community safety.

The eight-day program will incorporate a broad range of free activities including workshops, demonstrations and displays highlighting safety issues and good safety practices.

Under the slogan ‘Our Community, Our Safety’ more than 100 activities are planned.

Safer Towns and Cities was a recommendation of the NSW Workplace Safety Summit, held in Bathurst in July 2002.

Themes being addressed include workplace safety, farm safety and security, community event and sports safety, home safety and security, alcohol and drug use, health and well-being, fire safety, emergencies, and road and street safety.

It will demonstrate to the Central West what can be achieved when communities make safety a priority both at work and in every aspect of our daily life.
