Hannas Civil Engineering Pty Ltd

On 23 February 2007, a 22 year old labourer was working on a carpark digging around a construction area when a conduit was cut with a hand saw which had an 11,000 volt cable inside it causing burns to his face and hands.

After a WorkCover investigation the defendant Hannas Civil Engineering Pty Ltd was charged with a breach of the OHS Act 2000 section 8(2).

On 12 October 2009 the defendant was convicted by the Court and fined $200,000. Judgment.

Afram Hanna was also charged and convicted in relation to this workplace incident.
