Sporting Injuries Insurance Act 1978
The Sporting Injuries Insurance Act 1978 establishes the Sporting Injuries Insurance Scheme. This Scheme provides compensation to people suffering serious injuries while participating in a sporting activity.

The Scheme provides serious injury cover for members of sporting organisations that have elected to join the Scheme. Amateur and professional sportspersons may be covered but professionals must belong to an organisation whose membership is largely amateur.
