Construction Induction Certificate
From 29 March 2004 WorkCover began issuing a Construction Induction Certificate, in a credit card size format, to participants on completion of the OHS General Induction for Construction Work in NSW course.
The new certificate has been introduced to ensure a single, consistent and portable proof of safety induction. It is compulsory for each person as proof of completion of training.
The WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate is the required proof of training from 2 September 2006.
For those who missed the two-year period to convert their 'green card' to a WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate and had to undergo construction induction retraining, your Statement of Training will be recognised by employers whilst WorkCover processes your Construction Induction Certificate. The Statement of Training will have been issued to you on the day of training.
The high demand for training courses for the WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate has made it difficult for some people to get into an approved course. To enable people with the old ‘C type green card’ to continue carrying out construction work, new transitional arrangements have been made.
Until 1 December 2006, NSW employers can accept the old ‘C type green card’ provided the worker also has a ‘Confirmation of Enrolment Form’ to attend a WorkCover approved ‘OHS General Induction for Construction Work’ training course.
People who need to complete construction induction training should enrol in an approved course as soon as possible.
