Consultation on the regulation of return to work assistance

In August 2015 a range of reforms were introduced to the NSW workers compensation system with the passing of the Workers Compensation Amendment Act 2015. These reforms include two new return to work assistance benefits.

The State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) is now leading the development of a new regulation to govern the design and operation of these benefits, and is keen to hear from stakeholders about their view on how the benefits should operate.

The discussion paper presents some key considerations in relation to the new return to work assistance benefits and presents targeted questions for consideration.

Submissions were open from 12 November to 10 December 2015.

All non-confidential submissions have been published on our website.

A submissions summary, which provides a high-level overview of the key themes articulated in the submissions received, was published in December 2015.

We will publish a consultation summary paper in December 2015.
