This RTA safety alert has been published following the death of a worker in July 2010 who sustained fatal crush injuries when he became trapped between his truck and a front-end loader as part of a refuelling operation.
While an investigation is still underway, the incident serves as a tragic reminder that work involving mobile plant is high risk and potentially catastrophic if systems are not put in place to ensure the safety of people in close proximity to the plant.
