JobCover Placement Program brochure
The JobCover Placement Program offers eligible employers incentives to employ workers who cannot return to work with their pre-injury employer. The program provides financial incentives designed to offset the cost of engaging a new worker while giving the employer a motivated worker who can make a valuable contribution to the workplace.
To encourage employers to engage people with a work-related injury or illness, the JobCover Placement Program offers three benefits:
An employer incentive payment for up to 12 months. The incentive payments include:
- $400 per week for first 12 weeks (maximum $4800)
- $500 per week for next 14 weeks (maximum $7000)
- $600 per week for next 26 weeks (maximum $15,600).
Exemption of the injured worker's wages from the employer's workers compensation premium calculation for up to two years.
Protection against further costs associated with the existing injury for up to two years.
To undertake a JobCover Placement Program, the worker must have a work-related injury and be paid, or entitled to be paid, weekly payments and have capacity for work.
An employer is likely to be eligible for the JobCover Placement Program provided they hold a current workers compensation policy or self insurer's licence and can demonstrate adherence to the relevant workers compensation and work health and safety legislation in their jurisdiction.
Suitability of employment
In some circumstances a workplace assessment may be used to determine the suitability and safety of the employment placement. For some workers, specific equipment, modifications to the workplace, or pre-requisite knowledge, skills, licences or certifications, may be required to achieve a safe and durable return to work. WorkCover NSW has a range of vocational programs which may be able to assist in obtaining the above.
