The construction industry is a multifaceted industry, characterised by a broad range of high risk activities and complex work arrangements.

The construction industry includes:

  • commercial, domestic and civil construction
  • road and bridge construction
  • railway maintenance and railway construction.

The inherent risks in the building and construction industry make it one of the priority areas for NSW. Contractors, subcontractors and their workers face risks from hazards that must be managed to prevent deaths, injuries and illness.

    This Industry Code of Practice has been produced by the WorkCover Authority of NSW to provide employers, self-employed persons and employees with practical advice on the use of saws and drills and associated equipment used in the cutting and drilling of concrete and other building structural materials during construction work.
