Equipment and workplace modification
This program provides funding for workplace equipment or modifications that may help a worker to remain at work with their pre-injury employer or commence work with a new employer.
Modifications may be specific to the worker’s functional requirements, or the equipment may be necessary if the worker starts a new role (for example, a basic toolkit for a maintenance worker).
To be considered for funding of equipment or workplace modifications, workers must be receiving, or be entitled to receive, weekly payments under the Workers Compensation Act 1987.
The return to work coordinator, insurer or workplace rehabilitation provider must have determined that provision of equipment and/or workplace modification is a suitable strategy to assist the worker recover at/return to work based on the specific principles in the SIRA equipment and workplace modification program guidance material.
The SIRA equipment and workplace modification guidance material provides detailed information on the principles and procedures for funding of equipment and/or workplace modifications, as well as any associated expenses that may be considered for approval. All submissions must comply with these requirements.
The Vocational program: details form is used to submit a proposal for new equipment and/or workplace modifications expenses, or to request an extension/amendment for a previously approved program.
The Vocational program: closure report form is used to notify SIRA of the outcome of the vocational program.
The Vocational program: claim for payment form is used to request payment or reimbursement for SIRA vocational program costs and/or associated expenses. It also allows you to nominate the account you would like to use for these payments.
